Help Us Shine a Light on Children’s Mental Health ✨
Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is May 5-11, 2024!
Just like their physical health, taking care of our children’s mental well-being is crucial.
Why is it important?
💚 Mental health impacts a child’s ability to learn, build relationships, and cope with challenges.
🩵 1 in 5 children will experience a mental health disorder in a given year.
How can you help?
1️⃣ Talk openly with your child about their feelings.
2️⃣ Encourage healthy habits like sleep, exercise, and creative expression.
3️⃣ Seek support if needed – NAMI Maine offers free resources and programs!

How will you celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week?
Bonus Ways to Spread Awareness & Participate:
• Contact your local library about creating a library display of mental health books.
• Ask your local leaders about designating the first week in May as Children’s Mental Health Week in your city or county. Many local governments have a proclamation request process.
• Does a local business or government agency have a fountain they dye different colors for other awareness months? Or lights they turn green for St. Patrick’s Day? Ask them to make it green for Children’s Mental Health!
• Put up a sign sharing your support for mental health awareness, or some green pinwheels for flair!
Together, let’s build a brighter future for our children’s mental health!
