Suicide Prevention and Management in Home Healthcare and Hospice Settings

This presentation will be held on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Room B1102 at the Alfond Center for Health, 35 Medical Center Parkway, Augusta ME 04330.

The presentation will provide updated information on trends in suicidal behavior across the lifespan and an overview of the best practice approaches to suicide identification, assessment, and management within the home healthcare and Hospice setting. Tools for practice will be offered to address assessment, collaborative safety planning, and coordinated follow-up.

• Suicide attempts

• Warning, Signs, Risks, and Protective Factors

• Introduction to tools for:

  • Suicide screening using the C-SSRS tool

  • The use of Collaborative Safety Planning

  • Structuring proactive follow-up for a patient at risk

• Engaging resources for intervention

• Opportunities for additional training
