SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings for Telstar School Staff
DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid is a national best-practice\, evidence-based certification course designed to help adults identify\, understand\, and respond to crisis and non-crisis mental health situations involving youth (age 12-18). *We are holding two simultaneous sessions for BOTH Telstar Middle School & Telstar High School Staff. These trainings are free and will be held at each school (rooms TBA) on Friday\, October 11th from 8AM to 2PM. \nThese trainings provides information on common mental health challenges in youth\, skills for holding supportive conversations and connecting youth to appropriate professional care\, and local and national resources for additional support. We encourage all youth-serving adults — school staff\, agency staff\, parents/caregivers\, volunteers\, and community members — to participate and become a well-equipped resource for the young people in your personal and professional lives. \nYMHFA leads to a 3-year certification issued by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. The 8-hour course is provided in a blended format\, with 2 hours of self-paced online learning and 6 hours of instructor-led training held in person.
